A commercial operator is the motor system driving a business door — rolling curtain, sectional bay or grille — built and rated by duty cycle rather than convenience features. The three configurations, and how one gets chosen
Commercial operators mount three ways, each matched to a door family. The control and safety package is the specification’s second half. What does “duty cycle” mean on an operator plate?
How hard the motor may work per hour, sustained: cycles per hour and duty-percentage ratings that separate a light-duty operator (a few cycles an hour, residential-adjacent) from heavy and continuous-duty classes built for docks running trucks all shift. Why does the electrician keep asking single-phase or three-phase?
