Threshold seal (floor-mounted)

A threshold seal is a rubber or vinyl ramp adhered to the garage floor directly under the closed door’s line. Working against the door’s astragal from below, it dams water that sheet-flows toward the opening — the floor-mounted half of a two-part seal the door alone cannot complete.

Why the floor half exists at all

The astragal’s physics have a limit: a door-mounted seal can conform to the floor it lands on, but it cannot stop water that arrives with head pressure — the sheet flow off a driveway pitched toward the opening, the puddle a storm builds against the door line, the snowmelt stream tracking a slab’s low channel.
