Check the mounting and wiring style
Confirm which pad you actually own before deeper surgery: wireless pads (battery compartment, no wires) follow this guide entirely; the rarer WIRED pads run a two-conductor line to the opener like a second wall console, and their dead-pad branch is that wire, not a battery.
Rule out the opener’s radio side
Before condemning the pad, press a known-good remote from the same spot. If remotes are also dead or short-ranged, the fault is the opener’s receiver, lock mode or antenna — the opener tree’s territory — and no keypad purchase will fix it.
Replace the pad if it fails all five
